Evidence line 01

Brain-computer interfaces: from demonstration to dependable use.

Brain-computer interfaces have demonstrated communication and control in research settings. A research result, an investigational system and a scalable standard of care are different stages.

The first evidence line separates them. It follows the questions that decide whether a system can move from a controlled demonstration into dependable, safe and reachable everyday use.

The first working map

One frontier.
Five gates.

The first map follows brain-computer interfaces from signal to access. Each gate is both an editorial question and a place where a contributor can add evidence the map does not yet hold.

Gate 01 / Signal

Can intent be decoded reliably?

The five-gate BCI translation pathA neural signal travels through signal, system, benefit, pathway and access before reaching everyday use.

Translation risk

Neural activity varies. Decoders must stay accurate without constant researcher recalibration.

Perspective sought

Perspectives sought

We are seeking first-hand knowledge from across the translation path.

Contributors are selected for the specific experience they can add, not their title.

01 / Signal

A neural engineer or decoding researcher

Where does performance still break under variation?

02 / System

A device or platform team

What has to remain stable without a researcher present?

03 / Benefit

A participant, clinician or outcomes researcher

Which gains are meaningful enough to change a life?

04 / Pathway

A clinical, safety or regulatory leader

What evidence would be enough to proceed?

05 / Access

A provider, payer or market-access operator

What would make delivery sustainable and reachable?
